Description
We offered turn-key solution of drip irrigation system for a 200-acre tea base where located in Ziyang , Hunan of China in 2022. Below is our generalized work steps, but please note that it may not cover all site-specific requirements:
Step 1: Site Assessment
Soil Analysis:
Conduct a comprehensive soil analysis to understand soil composition, nutrient levels, and water retention capacity.
Water Source:
Identify a reliable water source, considering the quantity and quality of water required for tea cultivation.
Topography:
Survey the tea plantation's topography to plan the layout of the drip irrigation system efficiently.
Step 2: Designing the Water and Fertilizer Integration System
Spacing and Layout:
Determine the optimal spacing between tea plants and rows.
Design a layout that ensures uniform water and fertilizer distribution.
Mainline and Submain:
Select appropriate PVC or HDPE pipes for the mainline and submain based on water flow requirements.
Calculate pipe diameters considering flow rates and pressure requirements.
Drip Line:
Choose drip tape with suitable dripper spacing for tea plants.
Consider pressure-compensating drippers for uniform water and fertilizer distribution.
Filters:
Install sand filters and screen filters to prevent clogging of drippers.
Consider adding a fertigation filter for fertilizer injection.
Pressure Regulators:
Install pressure regulators to maintain consistent pressure throughout the system.
Valves:
Include control valves for each zone to manage water and fertilizer distribution efficiently.
Automation:
Integrate an automation system with timers and sensors for precise control of water and fertilizer application.
Step 3: Digging Reservoir
Reservoir Location:
Identify a suitable location for the reservoir that allows efficient water collection and storage.
Reservoir Size:
Calculate the reservoir size based on water requirements, seasonal variations, and local weather conditions.
Lining:
Consider lining the reservoir to prevent water seepage and maintain water quality.
Inlet and Outlet:
Install proper inlet and outlet structures to facilitate water management.
Step 4: Choosing Water Pump
Water Requirement:
Calculate the water requirements based on crop evapotranspiration rates and local weather conditions.
Pump Capacity:
Choose a pump with sufficient capacity to meet the tea plantation's water demand.
Consider factors such as lift height, pipe friction losses, and pressure requirements.
Energy Efficiency:
Select an energy-efficient pump to minimize operational costs.
Step 5: Fertilizer Applicator
Fertigation System:
Choose a fertigation system suitable for tea cultivation.
Ensure compatibility with the chosen drip lines and water pump.
Fertilizer Selection:
Consult with agronomists to determine the appropriate fertilizers for tea plants in your region.
Step 6: Installation
Professional Installation:
Hire experienced irrigation professionals for the installation process.
Ensure proper alignment and secure connections.
Testing:
Test the entire system for leaks, pressure, and uniform water and fertilizer distribution.
Training:
Train tea plantation staff on system operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
Step 7: Maintenance
Regular Checks:
Conduct routine inspections for leaks, clogs, and malfunctions.
Clean filters and drippers as needed.
Seasonal Adjustments:
Adjust irrigation and fertilization schedules based on seasonal weather conditions.
Upgrades:
Consider system upgrades as technology advances or plantation requirements change.
